Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15- October 15
Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latine communities. As workplaces embrace diversity and inclusion, it's important to recognize and honor the vibrant tapestry of Hispanic heritage.
Here are some inspiring ideas to educate, entertain, and promote cultural understanding and unity within your organization.
Set up an art and music exhibition showcasing the works of Hispanic artists or musicians. This can include visual art, live performances, or even a playlist of famous Hispanic musicians. Share information about the artists and their contributions to Hispanic culture - there may even be some artists within your organization!
Tip: Use a pre-event survey in Five to Nine to collect submissions from employees of artists they’d like to see in the exhibition.
Encourage employees to share their language skills and cultural knowledge. Organize language exchange sessions where employees can learn basic Spanish phrases or conversational skills. This can foster inclusivity and appreciation for different cultures within the workplace, as well as promote cross-functional collaboration with teams who may not work together often.
Tip: Streamline your event analytics by creating a post-event survey template, allowing you to collect consistent data for each event.
Invite guest speakers, such as Hispanic entrepreneurs, community leaders, or professionals, to share their experiences and insights with the employees. These talks can focus on topics like diversity, inclusion, and the importance of Hispanic contributions to society and the workplace. Having a speaker each week of Hispanic Heritage Month can allow for a wide range of discussions and viewpoints
